What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a fitness and conditioning program developed through many years of watching, working with, and coaching all types of people – from those considered “normal and average” to top athletes. CrossFit is by design broad, general and inclusive. Its specialty is in not specializing, and its workouts produce a maximal neuro-endocrine response from your body by using variety, intensity and multiple full-body, functional movements.

CrossFit is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience! Whether you're 60 years old or an elite-level athlete, whether walking the dog is the only exercise you’ve had in years, or you're a firefighter, CrossFit is for you. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

“Scalable” is a word you’ll hear frequently in the CrossFit world. During each class at CrossFit Grinder, everyone does the same workout, but that workout always has several scaling options. This makes it possible for all of us – even with our different body types, backgrounds, personal goals and levels of ability – to workout alongside one another safely. We motivate each another and cheer one another on. At CrossFit Grinder, we’re not just here to each do our own thing, we’re here to push each other and have a little (ok, a lot!) of fun along the way!

"Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense.
